The Main Street Now Conference offers numerous learning and network-building opportunities within a jam-packed schedule, and it is essential to prepare ahead and ensure you don’t miss any of them. Not sure where to start? You’re in the right place! Keep reading for packing list essentials guaranteed to set you up for a smooth, comfortable, and connected conference experience.
The agenda is filled with exciting activities, so we recommend carrying a backpack or tote to ensure you're prepared for anything. (Conference totes will be available at registration, but you may want to pack a backup.) Some essential items to include are a notebook, pens, a reusable water bottle, snacks, and weather-appropriate accessories such as sunglasses, rain gear, a hat, and sunscreen. By having these items available on hand, you can focus on absorbing information, exploring the city, and seizing networking opportunities.
Speaking of networking, Main Street Now is an excellent opportunity to get to know other Main Streeters — packing some physical materials can help make those connections more meaningful. If you have business cards, bring them, and don’t hesitate to hand them out. You can also bring promotional collateral about your community and organization, such as pamphlets or one-pagers, to share with others.
The Main Street Now Conference is a marathon, not a sprint, so we recommend you pack accordingly. Comfy walking shoes and a light sweater will serve you well as you jump from session to session and explore City Center during breaks. You may want to bring a change of clothes for evening events and dinners. Looking for inspiration? Consider wearing Main Street swag, either from your community or ShopMainStreet.org. Repping Main Street is always in style!
Your smartphone will be a valuable tool to help you navigate the conference. Our mobile app includes the full schedule, attendee directories, FAQs, live updates, and more. Think about bringing your laptop or tablet to take notes, too. To keep your devices charged throughout the day, we recommend that you also carry a portable charger and power cords. If you’re speaking, bring a backup of your presentation on a thumb drive.
As you finalize your packing list, we also recommend checking out our Explore Philly map to start planning your morning coffees, evening drinks, and everything in between. We can’t wait to see you in Philadelphia!
